CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - A Coralville police officer has sustained minor injuries after a semi-trailer hit his parked squad car along Interstate 80.

Police Chief Barry Bedford says Officer Jeffery Barkhoff was assisting other officers Thursday morning as they investigated a vehicle crash. At some point a traveling semi hit Barkhoff’s car.

Bedford tells Waterloo television station KWWL (https://bit.ly/Tjo2a7 ) that emergency personnel extricated Barkhoff from his car. He was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and was released.

Bedford says Barkhoff’s car was positioned in a manner that allowed oncoming traffic to slow down and move to an inside lane.
