CONVENT, La. (AP) - The Blind River in St. James, Ascension and St. James parishes has reopened to boating traffic.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1pSwGHk ) the waterway and others in the parish had been closed due to heavy rains last week and the flooding that followed.

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez said leaders in all three parishes agreed to open the Blind River Wednesday afternoon and all other inland waterways, including the Amite River and the river’s Diversion Canal by noon Thursday.
