MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (AP) - Alabama’s Shoals area is hosting three major fishing tournaments on three lakes this weekend.

The Walmart FLW Tour is set for Pickwick Lake, The Florence TimesDaily reported (https://bit.ly/1l8kfXl). The four-day tournament is expected to feature 167 of the world’s top bass-fishing pros, who will be competing for a first-place prize of $125,000.

Meanwhile, 49 anglers and 49 co-anglers will complete in the Walmart All-American on Wilson Lake through Saturday.

The winner of the All-American event will receive $120,000 and a berth into the richest tournament in bass fishing, the Forrest Wood Cup.

Also, the Alabama High School Open will be held on Wheeler Lake on Saturday. That event is a two-person team event and is open to students in grades 9-12 from any state.

“It’s certainly going to be a full weekend of fishing,” said Joseph Opager, a spokesman for the FLW Tour.

“Not a lot of places could put on three major tournaments at the same time, but with the three lakes there it can be done,” he said. “It just shows what a great area for fishing the Shoals area is.”
