ATLANTA (AP) - A thunderstorm packing high winds and heavy rain has left thousands of Georgia Power customers without service.
Georgia Power’s outage map showed that more than 21,800 customers mostly in north Georgia and the metro Atlanta region lost power during the storm Thursday evening.
National Weather Service meteorologists say a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until midnight in more than 50 counties.
Forecasters say scattered severe storms are expected to move into central and eastern Georgia Thursday night, and more thunderstorms are possible this weekend.
