FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - An 18-year-old North Pole driver has died of injuries suffered in a crash Wednesday at an intersection between Fairbanks and North Pole.

Alaska State Troopers say Elizabeth Schack died at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. A second teenager suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in the hospital.

Troopers originally listed Schack’s hometown as Fairbanks.

Schack and her female passenger just after 5 p.m. Wednesday were traveling southeast of Fairbanks.

Trooper say Schack turned from Bradway Road to Badger Road and her small sedan was struck on the driver’s side door by a one-ton pickup driven by 51-year-old Jeffrey Butler of Fairbanks.

Butler was treated and released at the hospital.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (https://bit.ly/1oxTXNH) reports Schack was a recent graduate of North Pole High School.
