SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has confirmed a tornado has touched down outside the city.

The weather service says the twister was spotted north of Canton around 4 p.m. Thursday during an isolated, but very strong thunderstorm. No injuries have been reported.

The weather service says funnel clouds were spotted in at least two occasions as the system moved toward Sioux Falls.

Pea- and marble-size hail hit the city and about an inch of rain accumulated within 20 minutes.

A tornado warning is still in effect in the area east of Canton covering southwest Lyon County and northwest Sioux County in Iowa.
