COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Musicians are coming to the University of South Carolina to attend a special boot camp that will teach them how to use spreadsheets.

In an attempt to help musicians build successful careers, the School of Music in Columbia is holding a four-day boot camp on business beginning Thursday.

The camp’s classes are designed to help musicians of all types create a business model, outline their financial plans and teach marketing skills to highlight their talents. It is designed to help them generate more income and increase their artistic impact.

University spokeswoman Megan Sexton says professional musicians, college students and music teachers from 25 state and three countries are taking part in the event. It wraps up on Sunday.
