LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming is building its energy research program with the help of a former student.

Greg Hill is chief operating officer for Hess Corp., which has committed some $10 million to UW’s oil and gas research and facilities in recent years.

Hill graduated from UW in 1983. He is a member of the UW Foundation Board of Directors.

In announcing another monetary gift from Hess on Thursday, Hill says it’s an honor to give back to the university.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1pNfbei ) that most of the new contribution from Hess will help build the High Bay Research Facility for oil recovery research.

Hill says the technology that will come out of UW will help tap sources that previously have been too hard to extract oil and gas from.
