TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Two students have been hit by a car after running across the street in Tampa.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials say about 30 middle school students were walking along a sidewalk Friday when several decided to run across the street. They did not use a crosswalk.

Authorities said a car hit a 12-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl. Nahomy and Abner Brizula, who are brother and sister, were the last to cross the street. Authorities said the children were taken to the hospital and are listed in stable condition.

The 20-year-old driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.
