OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island say a cabbie became an unwitting getaway driver for a bank robber.

Nassau County police say a man in his late 30s hopped into the waiting cab around 1:30 p.m., Friday after holding up an Astoria Bank branch in Oceanside.

Police say the cabbie had no idea what went on inside the bank. He dropped the suspect off about two miles away.

They say the suspect got away with an untold amount of cash.

No injuries were reported to the 13 employees and 2 customers who were in the bank at the time.

Police say the suspect is about 5-foot-7, balding with blond hair, a mustache and glasses.

They say anyone with information should contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
