JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a 16-year-old they say shot a 12-year-old Jacksonville boy in the knee.

Police said the suspect shot Odell Jones outside a home Thursday. It’s unclear what prompted the alleged shooting. Authorities said the two knew each other, but no other details were released.

The Associated Press is not identifying the suspect because he is a minor. Police charged him with aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm in public.

The Florida Times-Union (https://tinyurl.com/nbxxnbe) reports the suspect is also wanted for burglary and grand theft in Clay County where he allegedly stole $28,000 worth of electronics and jewelry from a home last fall.
