HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is emphasizing that he does not want to be involved in the proposal to move the Rock Cats minor league baseball team 15 miles north from New Britain to Hartford.

When asked about whether state money will be part of the $60 million stadium deal, the Democrat reiterated Friday that his administration “is not participating in this project” and if Hartford wants to “do something within their legal requirements and laws, that’s up to them.”

But Malloy added, “don’t be counting on us” to help fund the initiative.

Two of Malloy’s potential Republican challengers, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton (BOW’-tuhn) and Senate Minority Leader John McKinney have called on him to publicly declare that state funds will not be part of the project.
