FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The Flint River Watershed Coalition is organizing a new fishing tournament in downtown Flint.

The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1rQNUJS ) the free, family-friendly “Fish the Bricks” event is planned for Saturday morning at Riverbank Park.

Coalition director Rebecca Fedowa says organizers want to raise the profile of the Flint River and highlight its place as a recreation option.

There will be prizes for the biggest fish.

Fedowa says there’s always the possibility of catching walleye, and there are smallmouth bass in the river - as well as lots of carp.

The event takes place on Free Fishing Weekend in Michigan, where people may fish without a license on Saturday and Sunday.
