SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) - Police in the Silicon Valley city of Sunnyvale have identified a homicide suspect that they say officers shot and killed while trying to serve search and arrest warrants at a home.

Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Capt. Jeffrey Plecque says the shooting of 53-year-old Glen Griggs occurred Thursday morning after officers knocked on the front door. Plecque says the officers saw the male suspect pull out a weapon, and the suspect ignored their orders to cooperate.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Plecque would not say how many officers opened fire or what kind of weapon the suspect allegedly had. The names of the suspect and the officers involved have not been released.

Plecque says the warrants stem from a homicide investigation that followed a missing-persons case. He declined to provide more details about the case.
