CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter and other members of Congress are traveling to Normandy, France, to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

World leaders and dignitaries including President Barack Obama will attend ceremonies in Normandy on Friday, the anniversary of the largest sea-borne invasion ever mounted. They’ll honor the more than 150,000 American, British, Canadian and other Allied D-Day veterans who risked and gave their lives in the battle to defeat Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.

Shea-Porter is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. The bipartisan group of House and Senate lawmakers are attending ceremonies at Omaha Beach, Sword Beach and the Normandy American Cemetery.
