BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - After an hour of executive session to discuss its interim chancellor for the Baton Rouge campus, the Southern University Board of Supervisors has voted to defer the debate until a special board meeting.

A meeting date has not been set.

Earlier this year, the board voted twice not to renew Chancellor James Llorens’ contract, which ends June 30.

Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1oAtfnN ) Chairwoman Bridget Dinvaut said during board discussion Friday prior to going into executive session that they would discuss System President Ron Mason Jr. for the interim post.

A national search is underway for a new chancellor. Mason says, however, that search may turn into a search for one person to serve as both president and chancellor. That move would mirror LSU’s 2012 vote to combine its chief leadership.
