HOUSTON (AP) - Sporting Kansas City moved to within a point of the lead in the MLS Eastern Conference by winning 2-0 at Houston on Friday despite being reduced to 10 men early in the game.

Soony Saad scored late in the first half, and Dominic Dwyer added a penalty in the second to end Sporting’s five-game winless streak.

Houston has lost four straight and has not scored in 389 minutes.

Kansas City played the final 69 minutes a man down after Toni Dovale was given a straight red card in the 21st minute for elbowing Houston’s Alex Lopez in the face.
