NAPLES, Utah (AP) - A Texas sheriff’s deputy has been killed in a highway motorcycle crash outside the eastern Utah city of Naples.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Nick Richins says David G. Glenn was riding with two other motorcyclists Thursday evening on U.S. 40 toward Colorado when several cars ahead of them stopped abruptly.

Richins says Glenn’s motorcycle collided with a pickup truck, sending him into oncoming traffic, where he was struck by an SUV and died at the scene.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1lbe1G9 ) the 55-year-old was a deputy with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office in Midland, Texas.

The two other motorcyclists also crashed, with one rider suffering sore ribs and another hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Richins says troopers are investigating the accident and no citations have been issued yet.
