TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the discovery of the body of an unidentified female in the southern Arizona desert.

Pima County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Nanos says Tucson Mountain District deputies responding to a call about suspicious activity Friday afternoon were directed to the body.

Nanos says it was found near Trico and Avra Valley roads.

He says the body was already in stages of decomposition.

Investigators are treating it as a homicide.

Anyone with any information should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
