IRMO, S.C. (AP) - A 45-year-old Chapin woman has admitted she embezzled nearly $2 million from the doctor’s office where she worked.

The State newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1ldXTnt ) that Chandra Padgett pleaded guilty Friday to wire fraud and attempting to evade taxes.

Authorities say Padgett was working as the office manager for Advanced Pain Therapies when she stole the money, beginning in January 2010. They say she then created a fraudulent shell company and used the money to take vacations and pay personal credit card bills.

Padgett faces up to 25 years in prison when she’s sentenced later.
