SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) - A company that runs call centers may be considering setting up shop in Springfield with 300 full-time workers.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1tUk9Ui ) that three executives from Firstsource toured a former grocery store property last month, joined by the property owner, a broker and officials from the city and state.

Firstsource, based in India, performs a variety of work for banks, credit card companies, hospitals and insurance companies. That includes processing insurance claims and credit card transactions, and handling collections.

Springfield’s community development manager, John Tamulonis, says he was told the company is also looking at two other sites, one in Corvallis and the other at an undisclosed location in the Willamette Valley. He says company officials gave no timeline but brokers told him the call center could employ 300.
