LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Lincoln is set to host the annual international convention of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1oHPmsv ) that the convention set for July 7-12 will be the group’s 45th. It’s the tenth time Lincoln will have hosted.

Titled “Keeping Our Legacy Alive,” the event will take place at The Cornhusker Marriott Hotel.

Lincoln became the society’s headquarters in 1973, and the local chapter last hosted the convention in 2010.

This year, actress and storyteller Pippa White will present “Voices from Ellis Island,” and the convention will feature sessions on genealogy, history, culture and folklore of Germans from Russia.

Sherry Pawelko, office manager for the society, expects about 300 people to attend, coming from as far away as Russia, Brazil and Canada.
