CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - If you like to fish, this is the weekend to do it.

The Division of Natural Resources is allowing free fishing this weekend for West Virginia residents and nonresidents alike. It’s part of National Fishing and Boating Week.

DNR Director Frank Jezioro says people with licenses are being encouraged to introduce someone else to the fun of fishing.

Among events planned around the state Saturday is a fishing derby at the Bowden State Hatchery in Randolph County.

The state has stocked the waters in several state parks with more than 5,000 channel catfish.
