ISHPEMING, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have identified the man and woman who died after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a rental truck in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The Mining Journal of Marquette reports (https://bit.ly/1ibodKw ) Saturday that the Thursday crash in Ishpeming killed 64-year-old Gary Kappler and 52-year-old passenger Diane Palosaari. Palosaari was Kappler’s girlfriend.

Police say a preliminary investigation finds the truck driven by a 19-year-old man turned into the path of the motorcycle. The cycle had the right of way, according to investigators.

The truck driver was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

Once the investigation is complete, prosecutors will review it to determine if charges will be filed.
