SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) - Police in Springfield arrested a 22-year-old man accused of fleeing from officers in his car and on foot.

Authorities say the man reached speeds of 80 mph early Friday morning after officers attempted to stop him for a traffic violation.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1tUniU2) the man turned onto a dead-end street, crashed through a fence and into the backyard of a home. The car was no longer operable after he crashed into a telephone pole, and he fled on foot.

A police dog found him hiding in bushes a short time later. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of a dog bite.
