GURNEE, Ill. (AP) - A small fire has broken out next to a ride that an Illinois amusement park says will be the fastest wooden roller coaster in the world.

The grand opening of the attraction, dubbed Goliath, has already been delayed at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

But shortly after Friday’s fire was extinguished, the park released a statement announcing that a previously postponed promotional unveiling of the coaster would be held on June 18.

There’s still no word on a new date for the ride’s opening to the public.

Fire Battalion Chief Jim Pellitteri tells The (Waukegan) News-Sun the fire damaged a roof over the roller coaster’s cars. The ride itself was not affected. No one was hurt, and flames were already doused when firefighters arrived.

The cause is under investigation.
