NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a 9-year-old boy they say drowned after falling into a Lawrence County creek.

Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency director Joe Baxter told The Tennessean (https://tnne.ws/1oz2C4m) the body was recovered near Knob Creek around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Baxter said the boy, whose name has not been released, fell into the creek earlier in the evening while playing with his sister.

Officials say Saturday’s incident was the second drowning in three days in Lawrence County. A 72-year-old man was also killed when he was swept from his car on Thursday.

The drowning is also the second to involve a boy under 10 years old in western Middle Tennessee. The remains of 6-year-old Tristan Demumbran were found in Hickman County on Saturday morning.
