ARAPAHO, Okla. (AP) - Authorities in Custer County are searching for an escaped prisoner.

Television station KFOR reports (https://bit.ly/1qdwtyA ) 36-year-old Nicholas Todd Van Brunt disappeared Sunday. Undersheriff Kenneth Tidwell says Van Brunt allegedly stole a vehicle belonging to a person conducting business at the Sheriff’s Office. Tidwell says Van Brunt has family and friends in the Yukon and Midwest City areas.

Van Brunt was spotted at a Wal-Mart in Weatherford later Sunday but was gone when authorities arrived. A mini-van was reported stolen from the Wal-Mart at about the same time.

Online court records indicate Van Brunt is due in Custer County District Court Monday to enter a plea to a charge of grand larceny after a former felony conviction.

Tidwell did not immediately return a telephone call from The Associated Press seeking comment.
