NEW YORK (AP) - Free as a Bird won the $100,000 Intercontinental Stakes for fillies and mares by a neck at Belmont on Sunday.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, Free as a Bird ran seven furlongs on the turf in 1:20.52 and paid $9.30, $5.50 and $4.

Believe in Charlie returned $30.20 and $11.40, while Alaura Michele was another neck back in third and paid $5.80 to show.

Rosario won the Belmont Stakes a day earlier with Tonalist, who spoiled California Chrome’s bid to win the first Triple Crown in 36 years.
