JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Police are asking for help finding a burglar who stole a safe containing silver, gold and $16,500 in cash from a Juneau apartment.

A man called May 10 to report the heist. The Juneau Empire reports (https://bit.ly/1kaxH8M ) that two leads fell flat following the heist, and officers are now turning to the public.

Police say a witness saw the burglar carrying the safe out of the apartment building and traveled toward a nearby middle school. He was described as a 30-year-old man with brown hair and a medium build, wearing jeans and a black sweater at the time.

A camera from inside the safe was later found on the rocks at low tide near a campground.
