DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit restaurant has been heavily damaged after an early morning explosion in which nobody was inside.

WWJ-AM and television broadcasters report that Jack’s Coney Island caught fire early Monday morning on the city’s west side. Utility and fire officials are investigating the cause of the blast.

Owner Jack Nucolaj says he received the call from an alarm company shortly after 2 a.m. He says he’s glad nobody was hurt.
