LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A former Lincoln man was one of the two police officers shot and killed in an ambush Sunday at a Las Vegas restaurant, the man’s family said.

Colleen Soldo of Beatrice said her brother-in-law, Officer Igor Soldo, was a victim of Sunday’s shooting, in which authorities say a man and a woman ambushed Soldo and another officer as they were eating lunch, fatally shooting them at point-blank range.

After shooting the officers, the suspects fled to a Wal-Mart across the street, where they killed a person inside the front door and exchanged gunfire with police before killing themselves, police said.

Colleen Soldo said her brother-in-law attended high school in Lincoln and worked as a corrections officer in Lancaster County.

He was a “great guy” who was a good father, husband, brother and officer, she said.

Las Vegas police said Soldo, 31, is survived by a wife and baby.

Colleen Soldo said she and her husband, Robert, both work for the police department in Beatrice.
