EAST POINT, Ga. (AP) - Fulton County prosecutors say they’re hoping a community prosecution office in East Point will foster positive relationships between residents and law enforcement.

District Attorney’s spokeswoman Yvette Jones says the prosecution office opening Wednesday is part of a national concept where prosecutors strategically launch community-based offices to raise visibility and develop relationships with community members.

Jones says the office is a joint effort among prosecutors, East Point’s Mayor Janquell Peters, city council, law enforcement and others.

Jones says the office will be staffed by community prosecutor Kenya Johnson, who currently serves south Fulton County.
