HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Negotiations are underway to establish a doctor training program at North Oaks Medical Center.

Hospital CEO Jim Cathey tells The Daily Star (https://bit.ly/UhF21w ) a residency program would provide training for future doctors and give the hospital an opportunity to recruit doctors to the Hammond area.

Tulane University, LSU and the Ochsner medical center may be interested in participating in a North Oaks residency program, he says.

Cathey says recruiting is easier if young doctors are familiar with the area in which they may want to practice.
