GRATTAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 40-year-old western Michigan has died after crashing his car into a tree.

The Grand Rapids Press and WOOD-TV report the Belding man lost control of his vehicle Sunday night in Kent County’s Grattan Township. Sheriff’s officials say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and believe alcohol and high speed played a role in the crash.

He died at the scene.
