CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Former Northeastern assistant Antonio Reynolds Dean was hired to join the men’s basketball staff at College of Charleston.

Cougars coach Doug Wojcik announced the move Monday. Reynolds Dean fills a spot vacated by associate head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, who took a coaching position at Texas A&M; last April.

Reynolds Dean spent the past five season at Northeastern, a Colonial Athletic Association rival of the College of Charleston. Reynolds Dean helped the Huskies reach the postseason NIT in 2010 and 2013.

Wojcik said Reynolds Dean excelled as a college player and learned much playing professionally overseas for several years. Wojcik said Reynolds Dean will work with the Cougars’ post players.

Reynolds Dean spent a season as director of basketball operations at Fairfield before moving to Northeastern.
