NEW YORK (AP) - The developer of a $1.4 billion shopping mall at the World Trade Center says a majority of the 150 retailers that will fill the complex have committed to sign on.

Westfield Group tells the Wall Street Journal (https://on.wsj.com/1kK7Ycb ) 80 percent of the retail brands have already signed leases or have leases out for signing.

Its co-Chief Executive Peter Lowy says it could have leased the 365,000-square-foot space “three or four times over.”

The complex is slated to open next year. It’s being built at the site’s new Santiago Calatrava-designed transportation hub.

More than 200,000 daily commuters and tourists are expected to pass through there.

Among the retail brands already signed on are designer-shoe maker Stuart Weitzman. British men’s shirt-maker Turnbull & Asser also has signed a lease.
