NEW YORK (AP) - An explosion that rocked through two buildings in northern Manhattan has brought the neighborhood to a standstill.

The 9:30 a.m. blast leveled the buildings on Park Avenue at 116th Street, killing at least two people and injuring at least 20.

Police set up barricades to keep residents away. Acrid smoke filled the air, causing watery eyes and forcing people to use masks or scarves to cover their faces.
