PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence City Hall is turning festive for its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

Monday’s events will include performances by the Providence Police Department’s pipes and drums squad and dancers from the Goulding School of Irish Dance.

Providence College President Rev. Brian Shanley is scheduled to give the keynote remarks.

The annual celebration is intended to honor the heritage of the thousands of Irish immigrants who made Providence home and the continuing influence of Irish-Americans in the state.

It will take place at noon on the second floor of City Hall.
