DENVER (AP) - An Aurora man is accused of mailing threatening letters containing white powder to police in an attempt to frame his ex-girlfriend.

Jeff Dorschner, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Colorado, says Tim Schwartz was indicted March 11 with mailing threatening communications. Investigators say that for three straight days beginning March 2, Schwartz mailed or brought the letters to different police agencies, claiming they were from his ex-girlfriend.

Authorities say they determined Schwartz assembled the letters as revenge after a bitter breakup. The Denver Post reports (https://bit.ly/OOMVrJ ) the powder turned out to be harmless.
