ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a man is in custody after a woman’s car was stolen in the Albuquerque area while her two kids were inside.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s spokesman Sid Covington says the woman left her 3-year-old and 5-month old in the car Friday around 10:40 a.m. to check out a yard sale in the city’s South Valley.

Covington says the suspect got into the still-running vehicle and was able to drive away.

Covington says the man was stopped about a block away and taken into custody without incident.

Authorities are not releasing his name because they say he has several different aliases.

He is being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center and will likely face charges of unlawful taking of a vehicle and child abuse.
