LOS ANGELES (AP) - A retired man has been sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison for taking bribes when he was a building inspector for the city of Los Angeles.
A federal judge handed down the sentence Monday to Samuel In and also ordered him to pay $30,000 to the city. In pleaded guilty to felony bribery last year and in court Monday said he has “disgraced my family and myself.”
In worked for the city for 37 years, retiring in 2011. Under the plea, he admitted accepting at least $30,000 in bribes for properties in and around Koreatown from 2007 to 2010.
He and four others from the department were arrested in an FBI sting operation in 2010.
