NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) - The Yaquina Head Lighthouse will close to the public next week because the staircase and interior walls are getting a new coat of paint.

The Bureau of Land Management says the closure takes effect Monday and ranger-led tours of the historic lighthouse resume Sunday, April 6.

The Yaquina Interpretive Center will remain open from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. All other areas of the park will be open from 8 a.m. to dusk.
