ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - A truck spilled a load of grapefruit onto a ramp on Florida’s Turnpike near Orlando.

The incident happened as the truck exited the turnpike onto State Road 50 Wednesday morning. The ramp was closed while crews cleaned up the mess caused by the spilled grapefruit.

The Florida Highway Patrol investigators found that the load was secured with the wrong kind of cables.

Troopers say about 75 percent of the grapefruit being hauled on the truck spilled onto the ramp.

The truck driver, 49-year-old Wilber Penafiel of Winter Garden, was cited for failure to properly secure the load.
