PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) - Police say a Virginia man who was run over by a school bus in West Virginia was lying on the ground when he was hit.

But medical examiners haven’t determined whether 31-year-old Patrick Neal of Bluefield, Va., was alive when he was hit.

Mercer County sheriff’s Chief Deputy D.B. Bailey tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1llL9wh ) that toxicology test results are still pending.

Neal’s body was found the morning of Feb. 20 on Stoney Ridge Road. The Mercer County school bus driver told police that he ran over an object in the road and thought it was trash.

No children were on the bus at the time.

Another bus driver saw Neal on the road about an hour later and called 911.
