OAK, Neb. (AP) - Authorities are seeking two men who used a baseball bat to beat a man working on a new house in southern Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the attack occurred around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home under construction about a mile north of Oak in Nuckolls County.

Sixty-two-year-old Steven Reinke, of Davenport, told officers that he’d been working alone in the house when the men entered and began beating him. After they left in a pickup, Reinke made it to a neighboring residence and let himself in when no one answered the door. The residents found him on their kitchen floor when they returned around 4 p.m.

The patrol says Reinke suffered a broken arm and leg and a skull fracture.

No arrests have been reported.
