SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Police say one person was killed and two others wounded as numerous shots rang out in a South Bend neighborhood.

The shootings happened Wednesday night on the city’s northwest side, after which several officers went house to house looking for anyone who might have been involved.

City police Capt. Phil Trent tells the South Bend Tribune one person was shot in the chest and died. Information wasn’t immediately released on the conditions of the two wounded people.

Resident Cory Mayes tells WSBT-TV that he heard eight to 10 shots and then saw people running outside.

No arrests were immediately announced in the shootings.
