LOCKPORT, La. (AP) - Bollinger Shipyards has delivered its ninth fast response cutter to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The cutter Kathleen Moore is the latest in an order of 34 cutters that was awarded in 2008. Bollinger’s contract to build the cutter was extended earlier this month for one more year.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1hiXq1m ) the shipbuilder is expected to deliver a total of 15 fast-response cutters through 2015 and bring in $80 million on the one-year contract extension.

Each ship has a flank speed of 28 knots, state of the art command, control, communications and computer technology, and a stern launch system for the ship’s 26 foot cutter boat.

The Coast Guard took delivery of the cutter Friday in Key West, Fla. and is scheduled to commission the vessel in May.
