CORONA, Calif. (AP) - A mountain biker and father of four died during a powerful California storm while attempting an 88-mile ride on his 34th birthday.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported Monday (https://bit.ly/1eX18IA) that Andres Marin was found dead Sunday after being reported missing by his family the day before.

Marin’s wife says he was supposed to return home in time for his birthday celebration but instead called to say he was injured and disoriented.

Searchers couldn’t go out Saturday due to the strong storm and high winds.

Authorities told Marin’s wife he may have died overnight of hypothermia.

He was wearing a thin T-shirt and shorts and had no food.

Authorities say Marin was trying to ride the Skyline Trailhead to Santiago Peak and back through Temescal Canyon in the Cleveland National Forest.
