JAY, Okla. (AP) - An eastern Oklahoma prosecutor says he’s dismissing a murder charge against an Arkansas man.
The Oklahoman reports (https://bit.ly/1pWZNL1 ) that the charge against 47-year-old John Lee Weeks of Gentry, Ark., was dropped Monday after Delaware County District Attorney Eddie Wyant said he’s been convinced that there is reasonable doubt Weeks committed the slaying.
Weeks was charged in May 2011 with first-degree murder of 29-year-old Barbara Ann Johnson-Willard, whose body has never been found.
Authorities say Weeks will be returned to Kansas where he’s serving a 50-year sentence for kidnapping, rape and sexual assault convictions.
